Here Lies is an unfinished app that sends people to real places. Be kind, be careful, and don't stash anything anywhere that would put someone in danger to go get it.
You own what you write. We only store it and hand it to the person you addressed it to.
These terms are an agreement between you and JFC Investments (“we,” “us”), the operator of Here Lies. Using the app means you accept them. If you don't, don't use it.
If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission. We may close any account we believe belongs to someone under 13.
Here Lies is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. It will have bugs. Stashes may fail to deliver, fail to reveal, reveal at the wrong moment, or be lost entirely if we reset the database. Don't rely on it for anything that matters urgently, and don't use it as the only copy of something you care about.
Read this one. Here Lies exists to make people travel to physical locations. We do not check whether a location is safe, legal to enter, publicly accessible, or a good idea. You are solely responsible for where you go and how you get there. Use your own judgment. Obey the law. Don't trespass, don't walk into traffic, don't stare at your phone on a cliff edge, and don't go somewhere you wouldn't otherwise go just because a message is waiting there.
And when you stash something, think about the person who'll come get it. Do not pin a stash somewhere dangerous, private, restricted, or somewhere it would be reckless for your friend to stand.

We can remove content and suspend or delete accounts, at our discretion, if we believe someone is doing any of the above.
You keep ownership of the messages you stash. You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to store your message, and to show it to the person you addressed it to, when and where you specified. We don't claim any right to publish it, use it in marketing, or train anything on it.
You're responsible for what you write. If a stash of yours causes harm, that's on you, not on us.
You can leave a stash for someone before they have an account, by giving it a claim code and a label. Only send that code to the person it's meant for. Don't use someone's real name if they'd rather you didn't — see our privacy policy for what happens to that label.
That's the point of them. We make no promise that a stash will ever be delivered, discovered, or revealed. A stash is not a message you sent. It's a message you left.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information — including your location — with advertisers or data brokers. This isn't just a policy statement; it's a term of this agreement. See the privacy policy.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, for lost or undelivered messages, or for anything that happens to you while travelling to or standing at a location. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid us, which during the beta is nothing.
Some places don't allow these limits. Where that's true, they apply only as far as the law permits.
You can stop using Here Lies and delete your account at any time by writing to us. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or if we shut the service down — which, being a beta, we might.
We'll update the date at the top when these terms change, and tell you in the app before anything substantial takes effect.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to conflict of law rules.
